DEATH OF J. D. YOUNG
January 7, 2008 — It was with great sadness and broken hearts that we said our earthly good-byes to J. D. Young on New Year's Day.   J. D. died at 12:15 a.m. January 1, 2008 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi, surrounded by several members of his family.

In a recent television show, a grandfather told his granddaughter that we have two hearts, one that keeps us alive physically and one that keeps us alive in the hearts and minds of those whose lives we touch as we live. This describes J. D.'s life. His love for each member of the Young family and extended family was evident as people shared their memories of J. D. At J.D.'s funeral on January 3, Paul Young and Chris Young shared some of their memories and the minister, Danny Wilburn, shared memories of J. D.'s love for his church and community.

There will be a void at Comer's Restaurant since J. D. had become quite a "fixture" there and enjoyed all his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and even his great-great nieces and great-great nephews. He was so proud of his family and enjoyed all the times that the family members could get together to eat and visit. He especially enjoyed this past Christmas and as several said, he just glowed with seeing everyone and knowing that we were all together.

Looking back, it is bittersweet in that everyone has talked about what a good Christmas we had and yet it was the last one we would share physically with J. D. Because he will always have a special place in our hearts, we know that when we gather again he will be with us in spirit - smiling that we are together as a family once more.

CHRISTMAS 2007
January 4, 2008 — The Darwyn Young Family descendants, friends and extended family met for lunch at J. D. and Janice Young's home in Tupelo on Christmas Day. There were eighty-six people who were in attendance during various times of the day. Seventy-eight people enjoyed lunch which was provided by various family members. Eighteen (18) of the grandchildren of Darwyn and Pauline were in attendance at different times and enjoyed visiting.

The younger children enjoyed playing outside and it was a lot of fun to watch them playing some of the same games their parents enjoyed on Christmas Day when they were small, such as jumping off the top of the old storm house and rolling down the hill. There were a lot of "remembrances" from the children and grandchildren about the good times they had while growing up.

It was especially good to see some of the family members who had not been able to attend for several years. Also, we missed the ones who were unable to attend.

J. D. and Jan had made some renovations to the house since last Christmas and everyone had a tour to see the changes.   (See Photos)
