GENERATION 7

Matthew Young Jr. was born ca. 1750 probably in South Carolina or perhaps in Augusta County, Virginia. He died date unknown in Warren County, Kentucky. He married Jennet McCurdy date unknown. She was born ca. 1752 in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. She died after 1785. Place of death unknown. (2)

Some history on Matthew Young Jr. and Jennet McCurdy: Matthew Jr. was a farmer. He farmed wheat and corn. Most of his adult life was spent in South Carolina. He apparently moved to Warren County, Kentucky later in life with his son John and possibly others. He served in the Militia during the Revolutionary War under Col Walker and Col. Anderson. Matthew Young Jr. received a land grant on 20 July 1784 of 200 acres above the Indian boundary line in the Pendleton District, South Carolina. The land grant was on a branch of the Little Generostee Creek call Indian Camp Branch. Matthew Jr. and his brother-in-law, John McCurdy Jr. were close friends. Their farms were near each other and their names often coincided on records. (2)
