Young Sr. was born ca. 1729 place unknown and died date
Unknown in Long Canes, Abbeville, South Carolina. He married Agnes
Lusk 2 September 1747 in Augusta County Virginia. Her date and place
of birth are unknown. She died before 1770 in Long Canes, Abbeville South
Carolina. (2) Some history on Matthew Young Sr. and Agnes Lusk: Agnes Lusk was the daughter of Nathan Lusk and Elizabeth Nevitt. Matthew Sr., from all the records I have found, was a farmer. James' will left to Matthew 150 1/2 acre where Matthew lives. However, data indicates Matthew Sr. was in South Carolina in 1750 and for sure in South Carolina by 1755. The will may have been written several years before it was executed. The following data was found in the Augusta County, Virginia court records: "to wit. – On the oath of Robert Renoxe it appears to me that Matthew Young did beat and abuse Michael Bready with the butt end of his musket to the degree that life is in danger, which appears to me in view as also the opinion of Dr. Flood, who is ordered to attend him. I therefore, in His Majesty’s Name command you to apprehend and enclose the said Matthew Young in Prison until it appears that the said Bready is in a way of recovery and that he, the said Young, be discharged by the due course of law. You are likewise to apprehend and enclose one John Walker, who appears to vindicate the above Young in his desire to murder, & C. Given under my Hand and Seal this First day of September 1747.
