Some history on John Lamont and Mary Lamont Young: John Lamont was hanged 3 June 1646 at Gallows Hill Massacre after fighting against the Campbells. The Campbells had plundered his estate located on little Chambers Island, Scotland. After the Massacre Mary Young Lamont , from the clan Young of Auldbar fled with her four sons across the 39 mile of ocean from Scotland to a town call Larne in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. According to some accounts she watched the massacre from an Island near the castle and that is the reason she was able to flee with her sons. It was common practice by the refugees to change their surnames when they reached safety, fearing the Campbells would search them down. Mary Young Lamont's four sons' changed their names. John took the name
